The Effects of Room Colours on Children

Colours affect the function, mind, and emotions of the body by producing energy from the reflection of light. Studies clearly show the effect of colour on creativity, productivity, and brain learning. The effects of colour on humans can vary; Causes excitement, relaxation, inspiration, increased anxiety or tension, or a sense of peace. These effects are more common in children. Children can be more sensitive to colour.

For this reason, care must be taken in choosing the right colour for children. Using an intense red colour in the room, an anxious child, or wearing red clothes or giving a red backpack can make him more and more restless and active. The same is true for hyperactive children.

When high-energy red is used around a hyperactive child, this combination can lead to the child being overactive all day and can also have a negative effect on the child. Therefore, it is appropriate to use blue, green, and purple colours in energetic and hyperactive children.

We also need to be very sensitive in the design of children’s rooms. Naturally, all the rooms in our home are important, but the child’s room should be attractive and fun with elements that help the brain study and develop. In choosing the colour of the wall for the room, we should try to provide a suitable study environment for them, which will bring them physical and mental peace. And provide an environment where the child can sleep comfortably.

Bedrooms may be of normal importance to parents. However, for a child, this is a place where he sleeps, plays, and spends time with his friends. The room of a baby and a 4-year-old should not be the same.

Colour is one of the strongest and most important components of interior design. Colour can affect psychological reactions as well as physiological health of children. Especially in children aged 6 to 7 who have started school but are still unable to fully communicate their reading and writing skills, colour represents a very important source of external information.

Studies in recent years have shown us that colour is not only used to create beautiful and elegant environments, but colour is an important component of the design of children’s educational spaces. By which children learn in a space that provides opportunities and opportunities for them to learn to show their potential. Research shows the role of environmental factors in creating levels of success and productivity, reducing error rates, and inducing positive behavior in children.

Why is Lighting Important?

Professional photographers already know about the importance of lighting, but good lighting isn’t just about getting the best photos, it can actually impact our moods and how we feel about our home. That’s why installing the correct lighting in a home is so important.

It’s not just the correct lighting that makes all the difference, it’s also about the position of the lighting as well. Families living in the city receive more light than necessary during the day and night, so it’s important to try to avoid light pollution which is caused by inefficient and unnecessary use of artificial light. In order to get the maximum possible amount of light without feeling the overpowering heat of direct sunlight in the home, large windows can be used in the north direction, but direct light in the dining room, living room, etc. can deprive you of comfort. That’s why it’s recommended to combine the natural northern light with the artificial light in other directions. The north light is cool and clean, but the south light is yellow and straight. A person who is always in rooms facing north and has very little contact with the sun and may feel depressed and sad. So we try to substitute natural light for artificial light at home.

Some tips about using artificial light in the home include:

⦁ Use even lights to prevent difficulties adjusting your eyes, when going from strong to weaker lights
⦁ Incorporate dimmer functions
⦁ Use the best form of artificial light such as full-spectrum light

Be sure if you’re renting your home that your landlord or property manager approves all light fixture changes that are not relocatable such as floor lamps and desk lamps.
